Studio Policies
Door locks when class starts:
While we understand there are a variety of reasons for being late that may be beyond your control, however, for security and safety reasons, we must lock the door at the start of class. No late entry is allowed. We ask that everyone please respect this policy and do not attempt to enter class late.
reservations:
To guarantee your spot in class, we recommend reserving and paying for your spot in advance online. You can do so through our site.
no Walk-ins please:
Please no walk ins, we have limited spaces, and need to email and text you important info before coming to class. If you want to attend a class the day of and you are not registered yet, please call, text or email us. Please note we no not have a full time front desk staff, but will try to get back to you asap.
class cancellations:
All classes that have less than 3 students registered online 3 hours ahead of the class are subject to cancellation.
come as you are:
In an effort to offer the most welcoming and inclusive class experience, all of our classes are open to all genders.
Only those registered in class allowed in the studio during class time:
We have a strict no spectator policy at the Pole Palace. This is to ensure the comfort and privacy of all of our students while they enjoy class. Every class at the Pole Palace is a special experience that is best enjoyed with others who are also taking the class with them and the instructor of the class, other people spectating and watching (like friends and family) compromise this experience and can and do make people uncomfortable and potentially self conscious, so we have a strict no spectators/on lookers policy. During class, registered paying attendees may take as many breaks as needed and watch others to help learn, but we do not allow people who are not registered for the class to watch the class . If you’d like to watch some pole performances and spectate you may attend one of our upcoming recitals or showcases!
our space: Arriving and leaving the studio:
Please arrive earliest 15 max before your class, and please depart 15 minutes or less after your class. In order to keep a comfortable class experience for all students, friends and family cannot wait for you in our studio while you are in class due to the fact we don’t have a separate waiting room. They may enjoy one of the many great cafes, restaurants, the public library or bars within walking distance of our studio. We are located in a very walkable, business district so there are many desirable options for them to go while they wait.
Also if you are attending an early class, and a late class in one day, with a class in between, we do not allow students to wait in the studio during that class in between. We believe each class and workshop we hold is a special and unique experience for those attending it, and we want to restrict that experience to only those taking the class.
age requirement:
All students must be 18+.
Cancellation Policies for series classes
Series Classes — Classes sold in a group meeting at the same day/time each week. All requests for other days/times for series classes must be received a minimum of 48 hours in advance on first class of series. This is because our classes book out and are very small. Requests for other days and times must be received by or before this time, or you forfeit your enrollment. Other days/times are not guaranteed and are subject to availability. A $15 change fee applies for changing your series class. Unless there is an injury or a medical reason with a doctor's note, the time change must be within the same series time frame, and not in the next series at a later date. We cannot defer to the next series if we receive less than 48 hours notice before the start date.
Make ups - all 6 week series classes allow 2 make ups, and 4 week series 1 make up per person per series. We must receive 24 hours notice via email or phone of your impending absence to qualify for a make up. Proper Attire and Hygiene:
Attire — To fully enjoy your pole experience, please wear athletic pole/yoga shorts that are tight fitting and sufficiently cover private areas. We also sell some sweet Mika Yogawear at the studio, if you forget yours.
Lotion — Please avoid applying lotions especially on the hands and legs when coming to the studio. Body balms and lotions do not always fully absorb into your skin. These will then adhere to our poles, making them dangerously slick for you and our other students. It's safe to avoid balms and lotions at least 24 hours before your scheduled class.
Hygiene — Since we work near and, at times, in close contact with each other, please practice appropriate hygiene management before class. Please wear clean workout clothes and deodorant. Also, please avoid using heavily scented perfumes as some are sensitive to these smells.
Filming and Photography:
During Class — We love the idea of you capturing your pole experience as much as you do. However, video and film are not permitted during class, unless you have specific instructor permission.
Film/Photography is allowed — You can always film or photograph yourself between classes and during Open Pole. When doing so at these times, make sure to respect the privacy of others and do not get them in any shots unless you ask them beforehand.
Drugs and Alcohol:
For insurance reasons, drugs and alcohol are not permitting in the studio. Those attempting to attend class under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol will be asked to leave and will not receive a refund.
Instruction during class:
Please be respectful of your instructor and do not instruct other students. Each instructor at the Pole Palace has been specially trained in the proper techniques for your safety. If someone asks you for help, direct them to the instructor. Only moves being taught are permitted to be executed. Moves, not limited to, but including climbing the pole and inverting (going upside down) require specific instructor permission.
